TrendHR is partnering with an ENR Top 25 General Contractor to hire a Chief Preconstruction Manager. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping pursuit strategy, leading estimating teams, and influencing how major projects are won and executed across the division.

You won’t just price projects. You’ll help decide which projects the company pursues, how they’re structured, and how teams position themselves to win.

This opportunity is ideal for a Senior Estimator or Preconstruction leader ready to step into a visible leadership seat with real decision-making authority.

What You’ll Lead

Preconstruction & Estimating Strategy

• Oversee multiple complex estimates across Hard Bid, GMP, Design-Build, and IPD delivery methods

• Develop conceptual and detailed estimates, benchmarks, and cost models

• Partner with operations on staffing plans, schedules, fees, and general conditions

• Guide design-to-budget processes with owners, architects, and engineers

• Present estimate strategy and assumptions during client interviews and project pursuits

Pursuit & Business Development

• Help determine which projects to pursue and how to position the team to win

• Forecast workload and allocate estimating resources for best ROI

• Collaborate with division leadership on pursuit budgets and strategy

• Build long-term relationships with owners, architects, and key subcontractors

• Identify market trends and strengthen win rates in industrial and mission-critical sectors

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop estimating and preconstruction staff

• Conduct performance reviews and career development planning

• Promote collaboration across offices and project teams

• Build a high-performance, accountable, and innovative team culture

Process Improvement & Innovation

• Improve estimating workflows, tools, and standards

• Implement new technologies and best practices

• Increase accuracy, predictability, and efficiency in preconstruction operations

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field

• 15+ years of construction experience

• 5–10+ years leading complex estimates and estimator teams

• Background at Senior Estimator, Preconstruction Manager, or similar leadership level

• Strong knowledge of all delivery methods (Hard Bid, GMP, Design-Build, IPD)

• Proven success supporting project pursuits and client interviews

• Ability to build relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors

• Strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills

• Experience managing multiple direct reports

• Proficiency in construction estimating and preconstruction software platforms
